Calling all SoCalREN public agencies! We’re rolling out brand-new programs in 2025 to help you maximize savings and streamline your energy efficiency projects.
SoCalREN’s new programs are designed to provide new services, including:

No-Cost, Direct Install Energy Upgrades
SoCalREN has launched direct installation services for hassle-free energy upgrades at qualifying public agency facilities!
Who is eligible?
Local governments, Schools, Special Districts, Higher Education Institutions, Federal and State agencies, and Tribal Nations can all participate.
What facilities are eligible?
Qualifying facilities must be owned by the public agency, have a peak of demand usage less than 20kW, be served by SCE and/or SCG, and be located in underserved communities. Check here to see if your facility is located in an underserved area!
What are the benefits of participating?
SoCalREN will help your team overcome funding barriers and simplify the complexities of project procurement and supports you at every step – from contractor payments to equipment identification and no-cost measure installation through a qualified Trade Ally. SoCalREN also maintains a list of vetted contractors who can complete the project from start to finish.
What types of measures are covered at no-cost?
Our Trade Ally partners will visit your site to identify qualifying upgrades, including:
Demand control ventilation
Variable speed drives for HVAC fan controls
Heat pump water heaters
Boilers
Water pipe insulation

Strategic Energy Management (SEM) Coaching
Now Enrolling for the 2025 SEM Cohort!
Earn incentives, reduce energy consumption, and improve operational efficiency through no-cost, expert support.
For a limited time, join the 2025 SoCalREN Strategic Energy Management Cohorts to develop effective techniques for managing and reducing your energy use. The program offers hands-on guidance to track energy use, engage stakeholders, define sustainability goals, and reinvest energy savings for long-term impact.

Public water and wastewater agencies
School districts and higher education institutions located in underserved communities
Participants must receive electricity service from SCE.

Water Infrastructure Technical Support and Incentives

Direct Pay support to Capture Tax Credits
SoCalREN is now offering Direct Pay support services to help you navigate the Inflation Reduction Act tax credits and deductions, ensuring you receive money back from your clean energy projects! Support includes an application checklist with step-by-step instructions tailored to the credits your agency is looking to claim.

What is Direct Pay?
Direct Pay allows tax-exempt and governmental entities that would otherwise be unable to claim certain credits – because they do not owe federal income tax – to benefit from clean energy tax credits.
