Resilience in Action: Huge Energy Savings for Pomona Community Center

Resilience in Action: Huge Energy Savings for Pomona Community Center

With SoCalREN Public Agency Programs' support, the City of Pomona implemented various energy upgrades to its Palomares Park Community Center at no upfront costs to the agency!

Minutes away from Cal Poly Pomona and Pomona Valley Medical Center, the Palomares Park Community Center is a vibrant gathering hub where residents enjoy various amenities. These include indoor and outdoor sports facilities, picnic areas, recreational programming for senior residents, and community centers available for organized events.

The upgrades include indoor and outdoor LED lighting, modernizing their HVAC unit, and incorporating a building energy management system. These enhancements will not only save the agency over $17,500 annually but also allow for improved facility comfort and better control of power-consuming equipment.

Check out the project’s outcomes below, as well as the funding sources utilized!

Julie Carver, the City of Pomona's Environmental Compliance Supervisor, was an essential key player who led to the success of this project. Julie worked tirelessly with SoCalREN to not only leverage multiple funding sources but also used SoCalREN's no-cost support and expertise to make this project a reality!

We thank Pomona for intentionally meeting their energy and climate goals, and we look forward to continuing to partner with the City to support its steadfast progress!
