What is SoCalREN
What is SoCalREN?
The Southern California Regional Energy Network (SoCalREN) is authorized by the California Public Utilities Commission to deliver energy efficiency programs to local communities. Through these programs, RENs offer resources and support to complete energy-saving projects that benefit all of us.
SoCalREN offers technical guidance, hands-on support, financial incentives, job training, and more to meet real community needs across Southern California. We help people and organizations save energy, lower costs, and build a better future.
What is energy efficiency?
Energy efficiency is all about increasing performance while using less energy. When building systems like heating and cooling equipment are newer and more efficient, you get greater comfort and reduced costs.

Why does it matter?
Energy costs play a big role in how we maintain and improve our homes and buildings, and how we grow our food. Being energy efficient helps us keep things running smoothly while lowering costs over time. California’s commitment to energy efficiency has kept our state’s energy usage steady while other states struggle to keep up with demand.
How is SoCalREN funded?
Our funding comes from California’s energy efficiency programs, which are approved by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and supported by charges collected on utility services. The CPUC evaluates the programs to ensure the benefits outweigh the costs.
